Another Setback for Sirius XM in Turtles Copyright Case

A New York federal judge on Thursday largely rejected Sirius XM Holdings Inc’s request to reconsider her Nov. 14 decision in favor of members of the 1960s band The Turtles over the payment of royalties for songs made before 1972.

U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon rejected Sirius’ arguments that Flo & Eddie Inc, controlled by founding band members Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, did not own copyrights in The Turtles’ recordings such as “Happy Together,” or gave it an “implied” license to play Turtles songs.

She did, however, agree with the New York-based satellite radio company that Flo & Eddie could recover damages for copyright infringement only for the three years before it sued on Aug. 16, 2013, not six years as she had previously suggested.

A lawyer for Flo & Eddie said the plaintiff plans by an April 3 deadline to formally seek class action certification on behalf of itself and other artists, rather than accept McMahon’s alternative of an immediate ruling on liability in its favor.

Fran Mariano, quien es conocido por su participación en el programa "Cuestión de peso", tenía más de la mitad de una docena de cirugías en su rostro para parecerse a su ídolo.

Inherent Vice

Inherent Vice might have been more fun if it had been played a little straighter. Thomas Pynchon’s 2009 novel, set in the L.A. beach-town culture of 1970, is a stoned shaggy-dog story that’s fat with pulp-fiction signifiers: snarling cops, neo-Nazi bikers, Indochinese drug smugglers, and, best of all, the Golden Fang—which could be either a mysterious red-sailed schooner, a shadowy international heroin cartel, or a syndicate of coked-up dentists.


Pynchon didn’t pretend that any of this added up to much, which was fine—we enjoyed his taffy-pull prose and his little hipster jokes. But writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson doesn’t take Pynchon’s story seriously either—a considerable misjudgment, I’d say. Pause for a moment to recall Raiders of the Lost Ark, a movie that parodied the conventions of pulp thrillers, but also functioned as one—it didn’t let its parody take the place of its story. Anderson simply lays out Pynchon’s giddy plot elements and invites us to join him in admiring them. He’s unflaggingly faithful to the novel, but the result—in terms of narrative involvement and simple entertainment—isn’t much of a movie. (Although at a run-time of two and a half hours, it’s also too much of one.)

Report says: Multi-platinum artist Enrique Martin Morales, known by the stage name "Ricky Martin", died at 4:30 pm eastern time while driving his BMW CONVERTIBLE CAR on a freeway in Los Angeles, CA.

The singer, actor, and author was born in Puerto Rico in 1970, he became rapidly a famous star in the country and gained a lot of fame with his talent and his good looks. 

A wreck on highway 5 snarled traffic for hours and left the artist dead and sent three other to the hospital. Officers told reporters before 5 pm Saturday a silver BMW stopped after a crash on the southwest freeway.

Ballaban dijo que conoció la existencia del video de boca de un profesor universitario que trabajó en la CNN, pero logró comprobar su existencia en 2009 siendo interno de la cadena.

El video está disponible en el sistema de archivos de CNN bajo el nombre 'TURNER DOOMSDAY VIDEO', al parecer, fue el legado del ya renunciado fundador de la CNN, Ted Turner.

CNN por su parte todavía no ha confirmado ni desmentido la información.

On the appearance, Chandler stated, "I don't care what you've done in life to throw you in the spotlight, you haven't officially arrived until Howard Stern asks you to come on his show." While there may be some hyperbole, there is certainly some truth to the statement, considering Stern is perhaps the most famous radio personality around the world, one who has interviewed countless amounts of people and has been known to never step around a question.

Because of that, you can guarantee that he'll be asking about Phelps ... and definitely about that whole porn thing. Because let's face it, we want answers!

Chandler further commented on the upcoming guest spot, saying, "This is a dream come true to meet him and Robin [Quivers], especially someone of my generation who has been listening to him since the beginning. I love a man who's so tall I can wear heels and still look petite. I'm so ready to do this, I cannot wait."
